My life was a performance, what was happening behind closed doors was hidden to the world. In dealing with personal strife I created an alter ego: Lily De L'Etoile. She was fearless, free from restraint, self-defining and fought for what she believed in; in other words she was my true self when I was not allowed to be truly me. Lily stepped out of the traditional box women had been placed in, shifting societal standards associated with women's roles and defining her own notions of "Beauty". In that shift I was able to reconcile my role as both creator and creation. Lily appeared throughout images, drawing from art history, pop culture and film to examine representations of women. She lived in constructed image landscapes simultaneously embodying multiple persons and allowing for freedom of expression.

Lily De L'Etoile was killed in the performance "Look But Don't Touch" in the body of work 'Pretty Anonymous' as I had personally became whole again.
